Ginnis, Krathen, & Zelnick P.A. was recently highlighted in The Daily Business Review in an article discussing a case we resolved for $1.35 million. Details on the case and resolution are below:Last March, a man in his 70s was driving on South Congress Avenue in Palm Beach County with a 99-year-old man in the passenger seat and a woman in her 70s in the back seat. While at a traffic light, a drunk, uninsured driver, going 60-70 mph crashed into the rear of their vehicle. The devastating crash resulted in injuries to the woman in the rear seat and the death of the 99-year-old passenger in the front seat.
The drunk driver was arrested and charged with drunken-driving manslaughter and DUI with bodily injury.
Attorneys Eric Ginnis and H. Ross Zelnick successfully negotiated with Hudson Insurance Group and 21st Century Insurance to obtain a $1.35 million settlement for the two seniors and the estate of the 99-year-old decedent.
We reached the pre-suit settlement with Hudson Insurance, which had a $1 million umbrella policy for the owner of the vehicle, and 21st Century Insurance, which had an uninsured motorist policy. The biggest challenge was that the man who passed away had no survivors. “He wasn’t married, and he had no children, so it was a really difficult case in that regard,” said Eric Ginnis in the article.
